I’m not sure why, but much of the personal work that I do seems to centre around mental health and well-being, and often telling stories about internal conflict and struggle. It’s an area that benefits from using some more specialised post-production tools to change reality, and hopefully tap some of those feelings that people have inside.
One of the biggest payoffs from work like this is when someone resonates with one of the pieces. Sometimes folks will contact me to let me know when one of the works was really meaningful to them, that it seemed to capture how they felt. I think seeing something like this, seeing reflections of yourself in it, and knowing that you aren’t alone in how you feel – that’s comforting.
