Tales From The Old Country

I LOVE doing promotional shoots for theatre – and I’m thankful to have the opportunity to photograph the talented folks from ImproMafia as they get ready to stage a show for the 2015 Brisbane Comedy Festival. Late last year Amy and Luke sat down for a shoot for their upcoming show Tales from the Old Country, appearing Saturday the 7th, 14th and 21st of March at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

I kind of feel like I got a private performance of their show. My handy assistant (our daughter miss T) and I were treated to these two telling stories, bickering, chastising us and each other, and generally being hilarious. I learned more about the economics of budget biscuit purchases than I thought possible. I wish there was some way to show you how much fun these guys were to shoot, with their antics and wild gesticulation.

Oh wait. There is.

There’s a little easter egg in this shoot. It’s not Amy’s first time in front of the camera for a promotional shoot; a few years ago she featured in a promo shoot for ImproMafia’s Theatresports Grand Championships…

…and one of the images from that shoot should be pretty familiar to anyone that follows our awards work…

…and it sure seemed to me like that character could be related to Amy’s character in this show, so I snuck her portrait in there.

Here’s one of the final promotional posters, put together by the amazing Sean Dowling:

These guys are hilarious – worth checking out. Tickets and more information at the Brisbane Powerhouse website.
